Kia Safety
Kia is committed to the safety of its drivers, their passengers, and everyone who shares the road with them. This is why we have incorporated a variety of advanced safety features – both passive and active – to help you prevent accidents and collisions, and limit the damage if one is unavoidable.
Rear View Monitor
A rearview camera is the next best thing to having eyes in the back of your head. The moment you shift into reverse, the camera kicks into action, lighting up your in-dash display, showing what you might miss by just looking over your shoulder. And to take even more of the guesswork out of parking, superimposed guidelines ensure you’re perfectly placed in any parking spot.1
Learn moreAround View Monitor
Stay safe in parking situations with a 360° camera monitoring system. In addition to a rearview camera, you’re given a birds-eye view of your vehicle. It’s ideal for the tight squeezes you might find in parking lots.1
Learn moreParking Distance Warning (PDW)
Front and rear parking sensors are mounted discreetly, delivering instant notification as your vehicle moves closer to obstacles like curbs and other vehicles. With three audible tones, you’ll know exactly how much room you have in tight parking situations.1
Learn moreRear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW)
See more than you thought possible with rear cross-traffic alerts. When backing out of parking spots, this valuable feature alerts you with distinct beeps when the system detects vehicles crossing into the path behind you. So when you’re reversing and obstacles on either side block your view, you will know whether or not the coast is clear.1
Learn moreForward Collision Warning (FCW)
The Forward Collision Warning system uses radar to monitor the distance between you and vehicles in front of you. If the system senses this distance becoming increasingly short, you will be alerted – visually and audibly – to slow down.1
Learn moreForward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
Although it may seem complicated, the benefits of FCA are simple. A radar sensor at the front of your vehicle constantly scans the road ahead. When the system detects a slowing or stopped vehicle in your path, audible and visual alerts will occur, giving you time to correct the course. If you do not slow down, the brakes will be automatically applied to avoid or reduce the impact of a potential collision.1
Learn moreBlind Spot Collision Warning (BCW)
Part of driving safely means being alert to things you may not be able to see. Blind Spot Collision Warning offers prominent warnings – both audible and visual – to help warn of vehicles outside your field of view. This means being alerted visually with a warning flash in one of your side view mirrors if the system detects a vehicle in or approaching your blind spots, and hearing an audible alert if you signal a lane change with a vehicle in or approaching the blind zones.1
Learn moreBlind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)
Take the benefit of Blind Spot Collision Warning to a whole new level. If you signal a lane change with a vehicle in or approaching your blind spot, the system applies brake pressure to the wheels on the opposite side of the car, and helps steer you back onto a safer path.1
Learn moreLane Departure Warning (LDW)
In safe weather conditions, the LDW system monitors the position of your Kia in its lane and warns you audibly (and, depending on the cluster screen settings, visually as well) if you begin to deviate without the use of a turn signal, keeping you and other road users safe.1
Learn moreLane Keeping Assist (LKA)
Doing everything that the Lane Departure Warning system does, Lane Keeping Assist has the added benefit of intervening if you begin to drift out of your lane, by guiding the vehicle back to the centre of the lane.1
Learn moreDriver Attention Warning (DAW)
With this available feature, fatigued drivers will receive an audible warning if the system detects that the driver’s attention level has been reduced, aiming to keep you safe and attentive on the road ahead.1
Learn moreTire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Wheel-mounted tire pressure sensors monitor the air pressure in all four tires. When tire pressure falls below a safe threshold, a low-pressure indicator on the instrument cluster will be illuminated.1
Learn moreElectronic Stability Control (ESC)
The Electronic Stability Control system is designed to stabilize the vehicle during cornering manoeuvres, applying the brakes on individual wheels and intervening with the engine management system to steady the vehicle.
Learn moreDownhill Brake Control (DBC)
Activated or deactivated with the use of a simple button, Downhill Brake Control is an intelligent system that controls the speed of your vehicle during a downhill descent, removing your need to ride the brake pedal. Employing the anti-lock brake to apply the required pressure to each of the wheels, it works to control speed and improve stability.
Learn moreHill-Assist Control (HAC)
The Hill-Assist Control system is designed to help prevent your Kia from rolling backwards when it’s sitting stationary on an incline. The system works by engaging the anti-lock brake for approximately two seconds when it senses the vehicle may be in a position to roll back, giving you enough time to move from the brake pedal to the accelerator.
